| Arguably one of the top three Pubs in Norwich with a superbly kept selction ogf about 15 Real ales. The fact that this is a Batesmans owned Pub does not detract from the fact that two thirds of the ales are from breweries all over the country such as Hop Back, Castle Rock and Skinners when I visited. Staff are friendly and the Pub itself is spacious with a patio for smokers and outside drinkers as well as a conservatory. | Possibly the best pub in Norwich, if not certainly one of the top 5. Consistently blindingly good beer, top service, inexpensive and you can bring in your own grub. Wish I lived nearer than I do, but then I'd be very poor and weigh a lot more than I do! dd1962 - 7 Dec 2008 01:02 |
| A proper beer-drinkers pub - it might do food as well, but who cares when you've got a choice of 12 real ales? Several Bateman's beers on, but also many from small local breweries (including a very nice pint of Winter's Mild). Thoroughly recommended. rpadam - 24 Sep 2008 00:22 |
| I've been going in here for years now, mainly on evenings when Norwich are at home, and I'm pleased to report that on my latest visit (Wed 190908) nothing has changed - in other words the ale is still zinging (I had Oulton Nautilus and Wolf Coyote), you can still take your chips in, service is still excellent (even though the pub was packed) and overall it's still one of the top ale houses in Norwich which, as we all know, is no mean feat.
