user reviews of Napiers, Ash Vale

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Napiers is a real local establishment. The small bar is L-shaped. There is a pool table in a separate room at one end. Forty Niner was the real ale option. The car park is a little strange. If it was full, there would be at least a couple of cars completely boxed in. There's nothing particularly special about this pub. But the barmaid was friendly and bubbly.

No food at all now. "The chef left", apparently. Doesn't sound like they're trying very hard to find another though.

Dead quiet when I went but a friendly barmaid, good service, excellent food, three real ales. Food and drink very reasonably priced. And a good base for walking the Blackwater Valley. Recommended.

We ended up at Napiers completely by accident... we were trying to find the Swan (any family pub with food would have done - having been kicked out of the Greyhound in Tongham for bringing a week old baby into a non-family pub) and stumbled across Napiers having failed to find the Swan.

We were the only people there to start with on a Friday lunchtime, and were welcomed with open arms. The beer kept my father and fiancee happy, and the food cheered up my Grandma and my Stepmum after our irritating experience in the Greyhound. I was also well looked after as a new mum, with no problem with breastfeeding or changing my little one... although we did have to do that on the floor of the ladies, but it is a pub after all!

All the food was lovely, I had ham egg and chips and no complaints at all about the food or the reasonable price, and they were happy to make cups of tea and cofffee for us in proper china teacups for my Gran.

Would heartily recommend this down-to-earth local pub, and suggest you have a bite to eat while you are there.

Three real ales on offer in this buzzing pub - Bombardier, London Pride and GK IPA. Bombardier was spot on but needed to be begrudgingly topped up when served. When the same unpleasant woman took a glass before it was completely empty and then failed to apologise it was time to leave.
