| My wife and I ate at the Harrow Inn on 23rd January 2012. Before and during eating we drank tea. The bill for the pot of tea (which was topped up with hot water at our request using the same 2 tea bags) was over £8.00. The food wan't up to much either. We tipped the waitress 10% but will never visit again and will recommended it to no-one. fareham - 24 Jan 2012 16:50 |
| We have eaten at this pub twice recently, once at lunch time and once in the evening. Lunch time was very busy, the evening less so. The manager and staff were friendly and attentive, the food arrived in good time and the quality was good. Prices were reasonable. A completely different experience from the previous ownership. browserandsluiver - 10 Jan 2012 13:22 |
| We booked a table for 6 at the Harrow on Fathers Day and as a result of that, visited again more recently and I have only good things to say. The food was excellent on all occasions and really good value for money. The service was also really good and all the staff extremly welcoming. Even turning up with babies in buggies doesnt put them off! I would (and have) recommended this pub to friends and living very nearby will certainly visit many more times. Keep up the good work! | The Harrow re-opened under new management on Thursday 14th April. The new owners are Ian & Jenny Readman who also run the highly succesful Crofton Pub on the South Coast of Hampshire. Ian and Jenny have been publicans since 1987 when they were trainees at the Cocked Hat pub in Gosport. They then had spells in pubs in Newbury, Hampton Court and Worthing. In 1991 they successfully managed the Osborne View at Hill Head where they stayed for 9½ years before returning to Hampton Court as tenants. They returned to the South Coast and took over the lease of the Crofton pub in 2003. The then mayor, Councillor Arthur Mandry, told us “It is nice to have responsible publicans who know what they are doing”. Ian and Jenny’s main interests are golf and raising money for charities. Sue Mowle who has been working for them since 1991 has relocated to The Harrow to manage the pub along with their experienced Head Chef Lee Barker. They are proud to have been in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for many years now and hope to replicate this at The Harrow. They look forward to welcoming you to sample the new Harrow with its exciting new menu and extensive range of drinks Rich82 - 19 Apr 2011 12:34 |
| We live in the village and have tried a number of times to give this pub a chance after changing ownership. The bar staff are fairly friendly but not particularly attentive. The chef however should be fired. We have eaten there twice and come away both times with food poisoning. I was ill after eating sausage and mash on the first visit and my husband was violently ill after eating fish and chips on our next visit. The pub is just not busy enough for the food to stay fresh. Even the wine sits opened on the shelf for weeks on end and then tastes like vinegar. We will not be going back and strongly recommend that you avoid the food at all costs. pickalilli - 28 Dec 2010 11:18 |
