| We stayed in Great Chesterford for a wedding a week or so ago and this is where we landed first. I really liked this pub. The landlord and locals were really friendly, the food was GREAT (I had a steak and ale pie ... Mmmmm!) and we even stayed the night, awaking to a cracking cooked breakfast! I have to say, the guest 'facilities' aren't the best but it's clean and cheap (£25 a head) so you can't say fairer than that. | We have had to follow Michael from his old pub to the Crown & Thistle to get a perfect pint of IPA. His other beers are also superbly kept. Truly a wizard of the cellar! We spent an extremely sozzling Burns Night in the resteraunt and the food was excellent. The themed menus for St Georges and St Patricks are well worth trying and the varied menu is excellent for lunches and evening meals; but if all you really want is an superb pint of beer, go to the Crown & Thistle! alshouse1782 - 9 Mar 2005 17:42 |
| The Crown and Thistle has recently been taken over by Michael and Jenny Walker. They moved from The Tree in Stapleford, Cambridge. Michael, like any other landlord likes a good beer and stores his beer to perfection! They also have a large non smoking restaurant in a calm and relaxing environment.
