Am saddened that Tombowles99 had a bad experience in my local pub. But not altogether surprised! the old landlord was odd to say the least and slightly tempramental.
Could i just say that we now have a NEW LANDLADY, who has turned the place around. we now have a pool table back, and pool teams, and we are getting a good regular crowd now too. the place had been dead for years but Bev is breathing life back into the place.
There is a good pub food menu and the beer is well kept. prices are good too. there are more improvements being made all the time. All the locals/regulars are friendly and we try to make anyone and everyone feel welcome.
so please come and have a drink or two! if in the past you have had a negative experience in the pub then come and give us another chance!!
you'll be pleasently surprised.

First of all let me say that i am giving this outlet a very generous 1 out of ten, i went for dinner about 2 weeks ago because i had heard good things about the food and the family and local atmosphere this pub had. i was suprised first of all by the smell of smoke in the pub, i was under the impression that this country had placed a smoking ban in pubs!!!!!

I was welcomed if you can call it such a thing by a man who when i asked for a bitter he presented me with a pint of adnams even though i wanted an IPA which he had not offered to me. I asked what the soup of the day was and i was told that he would find out as soon as he had time, the pub was not busy in fact i was 1 of around 6 customers in their and they all seemed to have drinks.
after 10 minutes i went back and asked again, this was greated with a raised tone 'ALRIGHT HOLD ON', nice!!!!!!!!!!

so after i was told that is was tomato (exciting), i plumped for a steak and kidney pie, excited by the fact that their menu proffessed to be HOME MADE, and that they had an open plan kitchen, so imagine my overwhelming joy to see my pie being put into a microwave, oh and my veg, and my mash. awsome.

my food was delivered with a grunt of acknowledgment by the man (i think he was the manager, all i know is he liked to move his false teeth around)
and the portions were not enough to fill a gerbil up and on the whole it was the worst swill i have ever tasted.

on my complaint i was told that they were sick of my complaining and would i please leave the premises, i refused because i was appalled of the standards of service, demanded a refund, i was told and i quote to ' PISS OFF'

i left and will never go back, please if you read this d not go to this outlet, closure is the best thing that could happen to it.

oh and the beer tasted off to!!!!!

A standard main road local, but with very decent IPA and friendly welcome.
