My first time for Lunch at this pub since the new owners took over. What a pleasent suprise, really nice and friendly. Excellent food at a good price. spencersdogs - 16 Sep 2008 17:47
Tiny bar, not much of a choice of beer. Food from a small menu was relatively good, but nothing special. Background music was from a very short loop which included Achey-Breaky Heart. As far as I'm aware, this is banned under the Geneva convention. If it isn't, it should be. iapetus - 21 Jan 2008 12:39
We were not disappointed with our second visit to this hostelry which consists of very pleasant “olde worlde” restaurant, a small bar and saloon area. We chose to eat in the bar area. After our order had been taken we were served with fresh bread and pat of butter served in its own bowl which I thought was a nice touch and unusual in a pub restaurant. We chose fish pie and duck breast with orange sauce, and one summer pudding between two of us. For drinks we ordered, a soft drink, pint of beer and large glass of red wine. The total bill was £38.00 for the two us without the tip, which we thought was value for money. The waitress service was very good and attentive throughout the meal. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and will no doubt return again. Dsnell - 13 Oct 2007 14:42
A great location, great decor and efficient, friendly staff spoiled only by a limited and unchanging menu. The menu, with the very odd exception, hasn't really changed in the past 2-3 years. We find ourselves returning every 6 months or so just in the hope that things have changed. The food is always of a good standard, but the lack of variety and somewhat higher than usual prices are a drawback. Battyw - 25 Sep 2007 17:29
