| Used to be our regular pub for use when walking in Godstone : BUT . . . now it seems to have been taken over by the juke box and the games machines. We now AVOID, which is a shame ~ as we note the comment about this being an independent in a sea of local M&B !! legs2x11 - 17 Jan 2010 23:10 |
| What a shame - a really picturesque pub from the outside - chav city inside. Service appalling - I was passed over twice at the bar before being served - I thought I had become invisible! We had some food, which came reasonable quickly, but when I asked for the cutlery and ketchup, I was directed to a corner over the other side of the pub! - no service - no tip. chrisbonnert - 31 Oct 2009 16:28 |
| Three words ... AVOID AVOID AVOID. I'm a 39 year old Scotsman and being Scottish, I can't remember ever failing to finish a drink in my life ... until I visited this pub. My Harveys was so dark and cloudy that you couldn't even see through it. Couldn't be bothered taking it back to complain. My friend's Stella was flat and lifeless and served in a chipped glass. The beer garden is spoiled by the heavy volume of cars/traffic, but i don't suppose that is any fault of the pub. If you are driving, then try The Barley Mow in nearby Tandridge, which is fantastic. | A traditional pub, with lots of wooden tables out front and a good view overlooking the Godstone village green. Just Harveys on when I called in, and it wasn't exactly the best pint I've ever had. Could do with a bit of investment to spruce the place up a bit, but it makes a pleasant change from the nearby gentrified establishments. rpadam - 30 May 2009 20:25 |
