Don't come here for real ale - only Courage Best Keg. If you don't mind that then it is a fairly inoffensive sort of place, and service was fine. Won't be back due to lack decent beer though

Not sure how this has scored 8/10. There's nothing particularly wrong with it, but it's certainly not one of the best pubs around, which that score would suggest.
For a start it doesn't really feel that "pubby", but then it now calls itself "The Wine Bar" so perhaps I shouldn't expect it to. The front section has a comfy sofa in the window, several bar stools with high tables and a few lower tables and chairs. The rear area seems more geared up to eating with the tables being fully laid up. Menu looked ok with a small specials board and some PieMinister pies. Staff were friendly and far outnumbered the customers.
The only thing even vaguely resembling a beer was John Smith's Extra Smooth. Really, what's that about? For somewhere that seems to pride itself on home cooking and locally sourced food they really should do better on the drinks front. Ciders were Blackthorn & Thatcher's Gold.
