One wonders why a Landlord would enter into the trade if he's not a people person. This Landlord could hardly raise a grunt let alone a smile

Not very friendly, called in for a sandwich at Saturday lunchtime during a visit to the Jewellery Quarter for a special Birthday present for the wife. Decor a bit dingey, beer okay but expect the locals to get their food served long before you. We had to wait 40 minutes for our sandwiches. People arriving at the pub well after us got their food long before us. I placed our order on arrival just before 1.30, menus and condiments removed from tables at 2pm even though there were no times on the menus, I checked, the woman doing this didn't even have the courtesy to ask if we were eating. The food only arrived after I complained about the wait. They were busy but not rushed off their feet. I even overheard the girl bringing out the food say to the bar-man/landlord? that she needed help.

2nd pub on Weekend pub crawl. Friendly landlord who worryingly asked us to be careful leaving the pub! Decor could do with a once over. Good selection of beers including Hobson - Best and Highgate - Dark Mild.

Only 1 cask, but the Hobsons is always on good form, the food is tidy and they sell Tastees Snacks which are delicious.

Decent and friendly back street local. Hobson's bitter the only cask conditioned beer, well kept. Honest home cooked food.
