REOPENED in 2014 as the New Soho Tavern.. My first visit today. Completely refurbished, with modern décor, as a restaurant and bar. There is a substantial bar, so dropping-in for just a drink is fine. The food is Indian offering a wide range of options including fish, vegetable and soya options. Food is excellent vale, tasty and served in hearty portions. Curry and a bread or rice for under £8. Friendly welcome and efficient service. Three hand pulls with two in action today, serving West Berkshire 'Good Old Boy' (tasty and in excellent condition) and 'Doom Bar' which I did not try. The pub is three-minutes' walk from Soho Benson Road tram stop and a similar walk from the excellent Black Eagle. A must visit. 10/10.

I'll answer myself, as it is not surprising that anybody else has bothered to comment on it. This pub is now CLOSED. Although I maybe wasting my time announcing it, for the obvious reasons. For the record I think it closed around June of this year.

I have been here once, around December 2003 on a crawl mates stag 'do'. It was rough and ready, and the beer awful. It hasn't changed all that much - a real contrast from the Black Eagle across the way.

However, it has a good (very) old fashioned and battered juke box and awful tatty interior 9maybe it has been improved since then?)
