| Massive, sprawling, cavernous, empty, boring pub, totally lacking any kind of individuality. No ales, just bog standard lager, cider, and various types of black stuff. After the football the TVs blared out Big Brother. The service was reasonably polite and efficient, but as I'd been forced to got there against my better judgement I really couldn't wait to leave. | Oh dear. Enormous pub which was deserted on the Saturday night I visited. Can't see it lasting long in its present form. daveinbrum - 5 Dec 2010 19:18 |
| Awfull place, rude, unhelpful staff food took over an hour and was disgusting toilets stank i only stayd as long as i did because it was a freinds bday but when we had all had enough of waiting for the meals we askd for a refund and we were refused! A true disgrace to the public house industry! Avoid like the plague. gem1984 - 30 Apr 2010 18:15 |
| What a terrible shame!!! We have been regular visitors to this pub since the refurbishment, but standards seem to have gone right down hill...When we arrived last Sunday at 12.45pm, the car park was full of youths wheel spinning cars..Very intimidating for a young family. We decided to risk it and wished we had not. The staff were scruffy and unhelpful, the pub was untidy and we did not see 1 person clean a table whilst we were there. The food was unworthy of comment and when about 20 tracksuited youths came in we decided to leave our dessert and go as there was no sign of a manager and we felt very uncomfortable. Unfortunately this pub has lost our custom and its good reputation. munna7 - 2 Sep 2008 13:03 |
| Having attempted to book the function room for a wedding reception, when we turned up to view the manager wasn't available despite having made an appointment. We were shown the function rooms about 45 minutes later by the slightly bemused bar maid - the rooms were untidy and we were informed that we would have to use both inhouse catering (fair enough) and inhouse djs for £50 an hour! Don't think so. Despite leaving my number, noone has called back so with that in mind, if the Billesley is keen to turn down business and the new managers ethic is to leave jobs either half finished then good luck to them. I won't be returning. Shame really, you would think that for a new venture they'd be pulling out all the stops and that includes making sure the toilets are up to a standard better than that of a spit and saw dust dump, and cleaning the tagging off the brickwork. djugly - 28 Jun 2008 15:18 |
