| Well it`s still open so what do i know! Apparently greedy pub company discovered they couldn`t make loads of cash selling it - so plan B,,carry on as before. They`ve got a new gafferess, a pooltable, nice chatty barstaff, the odd decent real ale and the prices ain`t too bad. I`m pleased it`s still there! Blastbeat - 12 Jan 2012 12:42 |
| More traditional pub than the others in the centre of Moseley, quiet by comparison with all the noise and youthful vigour (or something) in that area. Beer reasonably priced as well. rainlight - 10 Sep 2011 13:15 |
| I expect Marstons are in the sticky stuff financially and need to ofload pubs to reduce their debt. Don`t forget they are a business, alehouses and their customers are of no importance.....profit is King and even if a pub is in profit it`s how big that profit is that matters. I`ve no doubt the Village will close.....no matter what anybody does, just another national statistic of `hard times ahead`. I know some people will bemoan another erosion of the Mosely `spirit` but unfortunately it`s not 10 years ago, there`s still decent pubs, Tescos will be built....change, whether you like it or not. | Would be a disgrace if this place is closed down. son_of_odin - 21 Mar 2011 15:39 |
| 10 plus years ago, Moseley had a really good vibe, a real unique, bohemian, pleasant environment. Suddenly it became Broad Street, with stiletto clad chavs tripping all over the place with a stomach fuil of cheap alcopops. Bouncers on every pub door, checking out your footwear. Im sorry, is this Moseley Village or Monte Carlo? Moseley has gone downhill as a consequence of pubs like the Village and The Jug of Ale dissappearing. Replaced by cheap 5hit holes like The Wetherspoons, and expensive 5hitholes like The Juntion and the Bulls Head. MPE - 21 Mar 2011 14:39 |
