| got there 7.31 on Sunday evening hoping to eat, and told that kitchen was closed, chef gone, roasts available, presumably chef pre cooks, and it's kept warm . Anyway food pretty awful. | I cam for a weekend at the local hotel, in which the food waws over priced and rubbish, fortunatley for me there was a nice country pub next to it. Food is served fast and tastes great. | This pub has gone through so many changes in the last 10+ years, some good, some bad. The current owners have been here for about 5 years I think. Really friendly and welcoming. Food is always good, but definitely book a table at the weekend. You can either eat in the bar or in a separate no smoking restaurant. Beer is always good, I'm afraid I tend to stick with Old Speckled Hen, but there's plenty to try as well as the usual lagers, cider and alcopops.
