Visited on a Thursday evening, Live Jazz playing and nice atmosphere. Pub looking a bit tired, beer below par, you shouldnt have a pint of Pedigree that needs a flake in it! Solent66 - 16 May 2012 13:05
Every Lichfield generation discovers the Kings so there's always a good mix of ages in here. Beer on 2 recent visits has been distinctly average and the pork in the pork and stuffing baguette had been around a while. At least I had to chew it properly. Live music in the backyard makes it good for a visit in the evenings.Generally it's starting to look a bit run down which is a shame as it's almost a right of passage for Lichfield youngsters. villagefamily - 6 Jul 2011 18:22
At first sight this pub offers everything: great atmosphere, live music, authentic history and all set in a historic cathedral city. Everything that is apart from good beer. The other week I had a pint of Pedigree and what a disappointment. It was flat and lifeless. I view Pedi as the benchmark beer in Lichfield so there's no shortage of comparisons. Every other pub sells better Pedi at a lower price. So come on Landlord, it's no excuse to rely on the ambience you need to raise your game on the beer. Can I suggest you get some training in at the George & Dragon. cyclist - 17 Aug 2009 21:09
One of the better town centre pubs. Former coaching inn, with brick facade and timber framed interior, allegedly where the first regiment of the Staffs Regiment was formed I was a little disappointed with the beer choice, which can be found in the Earl of Lichfield - Marstons Pedigree, Marstons Bitter and Ringwood. I found the Marstons and Ringwood Bitters fine. No MILD. Live music nights - always worth a visit Archivist - 26 May 2009 10:58
Very pleasant real-ale driven pub; mature crowd on Staurday (live music); Pedigree very good. mtaylor40 - 6 Jan 2008 17:59
