user reviews of the Grand, Bishop Auckland

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Easily the best pub for real ale in Bish and the one to visit. It's slightly out of town and up a hill but worth the trek! A great choice of real ales and friendly atmosphere in a classic old building, although the interior of the pub is now open plan. Recommended.

A grand pub hidden away under the railway bridge behind ASDA car park. An afternoon drink of First Yard from Surtees Brew pub Ferryhill had a nutty and treacle flavour at 3.8%. Missed on Grand owns brew because not ready, so I need to call in again. Friendly staff.

brewery out the back, at least six proper beers plus cider, live quality music (usually free. Beers generally brewed on site or from smaller brewers. Well worth a try

down to earth pub with two big rooms, up to 7 good quality real ales, and cheap accommodation. Live music friday or saturday (usually free)5 minutes from railway station through ASDA car park.
