user reviews of the Chequers, Barkingside

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

It was a little intimidating being sized up by the large group of lads outside that were fading there England tattoos in the midday sun, but once past the picket fence and into the pub I found the crowd to be much friendlier. The barman was polite and it was interesting to see a parrot pruning itself sitting beside its large cage – a first for me in a pub. There are a couple of pool tables, a dartboard and some plasma screens for the football on Sky Sports.

Both of the hand pumps were unused on this visit leaving only a selection of standard draught, but the Guinness was good.

I liked it in here and would go back again if in the area.

A local's local but they're friendly enough. Great pool room, patio and cheap beer make for a good mid-week drink or lazy weekend afternoon.

Decent enough pub with good pint of Greene King IPA

Such an old mans pub, but I did spend most of my sixth form here so it holds too many memories to slate! Resonable beer and a couple of pool tables, can get busy at night but a nice place to relax on your day off!
