Quite a sombre atmosphere sometimes, but a very pretty pub with a nice cobbled beer garden near St Nick's church. Beer selection pretty average at best. MX7 - 24 Jul 2010 17:37
The 'wooden' bar is made of plastic. anonymous - 14 Aug 2007 16:29
Offers some great traditional ales at times, well worth a visit even if you just pop in to see whats on offer. Looks dark and dingy on entering but there is a nice light back bar. Music on Sunday afternoons, not for me but probably good for the older generations like my granddad. 3 quality real ales on my last visit 8/10 DickySams - 27 Apr 2007 10:43
Visited a couple of times over 3 years, and to be honest I found it better the 2nd time. Friendly locals and staff, and they'd taken all the unnecessary sparklers off the ales - which were all served in top condition on my last visit. Younger clientele were serviced in the back games room with lager and louder music, but the main bar is traditional with a lively mix of locals and visitors. Accommodation was reasonable - huge fried brekkie, which was lovely in theory but after a session on their beers that didn't end until 1:30AM it was a touch trying! Maybe it's all changed since my last visit 2 years ago but I hope it hasn't. TWG - 25 Oct 2006 15:36
Went in for a hair of the dog on Sunday and had some nice food, then a blues band turned up! They play every sunday from 2-5. They were so good we stayed till they finished. Then got chatting to the locals who turned out to be friendly nice people. darrendrinker - 11 Sep 2006 20:48
