user reviews of the Fox, Broughton Gifford

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

We discovered this place by chance. New owners at the Fox, Broughton Gifford, have created a stylish yet comfortable atmosphere in this pub restaurant. It already seems to have a following of locals who appreciate Alex, the proprietor's warm welcome. Everywhere, there are nice touches without being fussy and a large mature garden for outside drinking and eating. Leather sofas and newspapers are very inviting if you are just having a couple of drinks. The dining area is decorated with both modern photography and interesting antique items.
The menu might be limited, but with all locally sourced produce, that suited us well. The chef creates tasty dishes which are simple and interesting at the same time. Nice home made puds and a good selection of dessert wine by the glass which was a pleasant surprise. There was both fresh lobster and local mature fillet steak on the menu when we visited and a vegetarian option which was quite tempting even to a carnivore! We haven't tried the Sunday lunch, but would like to. The only downside for us is that The Fox is too far from where we live to become our local.

A very warm, friendly and welcoming pub. When new to the village the staff were more than welcoming and introduced me to members of the community. It is almost a home from home now and will happily recommend it to friends and colleagues. Food is excellent and beer is cold (What more could any sailor want?).

Give it a try and tell the barstaff 'the singleman' sent you.

The Fox is one of the best pubs in Wiltshire because all of their food is cooked from fresh and they cater for vegetarians and gluten free people. The bar staff and the chef are friendly, the chef will pop out for a chat when he's finished cooking, if your still at the pub of course. The Foxtrot '5' ( a five mile road race/fun run) was introduced last year and raised approx.800 for local charities. This years event is on Sun.27th.August, 11.0am start from the 'Common' in Broughton Gifford, entries on the day at the village hall behind The Fox, The Street.

Since being taken over 2 months ago, The Fox has been transformed into a very warm and welcoming pub (free house) with wonderful bar staff and excellent chef.It has a comfortable bar area and a non smoking dining area. The waiting staff are very friendly and proffesional and the food is superb.
