user reviews of the Waverley Hotel, Callander

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

As the last reviewer stated, not the easiest place to drink in because the bar is basically one to stand at - tables seemed part of the restaurant. I had a pint of Inveralmond's Independence which was good; also on sale were Old Speckled Hen, Waverley Best (something rebadged?), Belhaven Black and Greene King IPA on font. There seemed to be a lot of tourist golfers present and I would have liked to have had time to try some other pubs in the town.

Only three beers were on (from 8 hand pumps) on my visit on a busy May bank holiday but they seemed to be in good condition. Not the most cosy of pubs: a long bar area; an eating area and a TV room. But worth visiting if in the area.

Popped in a couple of times last week. The choice of beer was pretty good and in excellent condition. Freindly barman and decent clientele. Well worth a visit if you find yourself in Callander.

An absolute real ale gem - if you're in the area and are sick of fizzy lager or nitrokeg, try the Waverley...you will not be disappointed by the staggering array of real ales kept in excellent condition. Food is very good, but with limited availability out of season.
