| This pub is clearly under new management.I left home in sanderstead for a long walk today through Sanderstead ,via the OM.W. grounds to Kingswood which was a sea of bluebells.At the end I took a rihgt into Kingswood avenue and crossed the road ( alongside the duk pond) and entered the Good Companions presumably named after the novel by J.B.Priestley.I had a "heads up" that things had taken a major turn for the better here and was more than surprised ! Three guesta ales on , namely Deuchar's Caledonian, Adnam's Broadside and Shep's Spitfire.The place was empty as it was just noon and i took the opportunity to ask the manageress a few questions ,basically the ales continually rotate,ales such as Hobgoblin,Doom Bar and E.S.B. Have appeared. Quality wise the ales were very good to exceptional.The service was very pleasant.A vast menu on offer,a large outdoor area,many events are held including celebrating the recent cask ale week.I am looking forward to returning next week for another three guest ales to try. slerpy - 10 May 2010 16:00 |
