| Went back again for a bit to eat for lunch today. The place was packed! The secret is out I fear. The pub must be in favour with Camra for there beer as they had lots of Locale posters. Exmoor Antler from the barrel and Otter ale from the pump, half of each very nice. Food came quickly from the special 8.50 two course board, both main and pud were well above expected standard. | If you want great food and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, this is the place ! Recently held a 50th birthday bash here. The staff were extremely helpful. the food was excellent and well presented and we didnt need a mortgage to cover the cost !!! We will definately be going back again js7 - 21 Feb 2010 19:01 |
| Good village pub. Great local beer, Otter bitter and Butcombe, Otter straight from the barrel on the bar back!! Food looked and tasted great. Spoke to the chefs as well. Theme nights every 6 weeks. | local to area and regulary visit as place is favourite of my friend. However, I have never been too keen and my friend now shares the same opinion. Usually applauded for an interesting, changing menu but firmly believe now that the Head Chef/owner is deluded as the execution of all the dishes we ordered was very poor. The lady manager has always been a bit sour faced, but quite frankly she is objectionable. Continuous swearing and bickering heard from the kitchen. The staff are lovely though ..... | Visited again when back in the area. A bit corporate, the atmosphere a bit perfunctory maybe, we recommended some friends to meet us here for lunch and we all agreed it was good food, beer and service.
