Maybe I have been a little hard on the high tables and high stools. I don't paricularly like them, but I can understand that in a small pub like this they are an efficient way of making the best use of limited space.

An excellent pub in a superb central location. It's wonderful that places like this survive. Fine Kentish ale, and I like the high tables/stools - it's a clever way of maximising use of what is a pretty small space. Very friendly staff who also provided excellent recommendations for local eating. A real gem.

Small mews-type pub, full of Irish accents at office closing time (presumably the embassy is nearby). It's also a bit odd seeing a Sheps pub full of St Patrick's Day banners. Didn't like the high stools/tables much, but the Kent's Best was on good form and the landlord was a friendly chap.

Went for lunch today and have not a bad word to say! The bar staff and publican were very friendly, the Spitfire was excellent and the steak pie was top notch. It's nicely hidden away so shouldn't attract large crowds, which is good because it's not the world's largest pub!

Yep - well kept beer; excellent grub and a happy staff ... what more can you want .... but please keep this place a secret
