This pub is a real tourist trap and I’ve never seen so many people drinking halves of bitter. With 2 real ales (a third was off), Guiness, HB, HB Extra Cold and HB Export there wasn’t much choice. Saying that, the HB was good and the service was polite and friendly. I thought the layout was a little strange with dining tables one side of the bar and sofas in the other. It felt a little disjointed with a small bar in the middle and little standing room. I found the menu a little poncy and the standard of the food to be no better than any wetherspoons, but at gastro prices. Had to wait quite a while for a burger and a steak sandwich, but was offered a free drink as an apology even though we had not complained. Not the greatest pub in the world and I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again. Strongers - 2 Jun 2008 14:55
Splendid building immaculately and recently restored in Regency ale house style, it has Badger brewery's Tanglefoot and friendly staff. Dreadful parking, thronged with tourists during summer lunchtimes and offside flankers when there's rugby at Twickenham, but still worth it. Food unresearched. jathomson - 16 Mar 2008 17:41
Really nice and warm atmosphere, and we sat at the bar enjoying the pretty good range of Badger beers. It was Sunday lunch so the staff were busy, and I did note the owner was quite stressed, but seemed a nice chap. He was fielding a fair few silly questions from passing tourists, so I'll give him a gold star for patience. Some huge tables added to the olde-worldly atmos, but not to the space in the main bar which was limited. Nice fire. mistral1969 - 1 Jan 2008 18:04
We didn't get a very friendly reception when we turned up for the Daily Telegraph Promtional 2 for 1 meal offer - because we had not phoned ahead; then he agreed but rather ungraciously - so we didn't bother & went elsewhere. Otherwise there are some nice beers & a lovely log fire. jkc - 3 Dec 2007 15:00
Probably the rudest, most arrogant and irrational proprietor we have ever come across. There are plenty of other establishments in the area that will give you a less frosty welcome, give them your patronage instead. anonymous - 2 Dec 2007 22:36
