Great to begin with, but went downhill when the barmaid's "boyfriend" threatened to put a meteal pole through my head (completely unprovoked) before calling some Indian passers'-by "terrorists", and other anti-social and & racist behaviour. Never was there any cause for this behaviour, except his personal defects? Despite a lovely meal and great table service, I won't be returning for fear of running into that idiot again. We spent over £400, so I guess they can afford to lose that business? Spoilt an otherwise pleasant evening. benrally1 - 18 Jun 2011 18:05
Went to this place and bought a curry. Unfortunately it was disgusting, tasted like curry powder mixed with water!!! My brother even found his egg and bacon was hard to eat (cardboard hard). My sister in law bought a steak and Ale pie and couldn't eat this heated up tripe because it was like a board. When she asked for a refund because clearly their meals were inadequate she was refused one . Eat here and waste your money!! Place itself looked nice...shame! godfathercwq - 15 Dec 2010 04:25
If you like gastro pubs you should give this place a try as it is definitely one of the better ones. On my visit, the Doombar was very good and Adnams was also available along with XXXB and some premium lagers. There are a couple of plasma screens, but I didn’t see any sport advertised. The barman was polite enough and I would return with no fuss. Strongers - 5 Feb 2009 11:42
Very busy on an early Sunday evening, with a good atmosphere of mostly young (and wealthy-looking) customers. In fact, it appeared quite difficult for those wishing to eat to find a flat spot anywhere to put a plate down. Only other problem, trying to convince the visitors to our shores behind the bar that the word 'Pint' printed on a glass wasn't the point to which the receptacle needed to be filled, and that if it didn't have a line then it should be filled to the top. Doh! rpadam - 1 Dec 2008 21:19
What can I say? A fantastic boozer with a great food offering. The staff are a delight, as is the Manager. Knowledgeable, friendly and efficient - we'll definitely be back for more! ginsling - 3 Aug 2008 16:23
