My dad used to love the Bless, and he was certainly a man who knew his pubs. Unfortunately it's gone downhill and is now only a shadow of its former self. There's plenty of other nicer places in the area, the Dolphin and the Flower Pot for example. jarofporter - 29 Mar 2009 02:32
Having not been to the Bless for at least 15 years I was stunned by its change into a student dive. The 2 pints we ordered were completely flat and undrinkable. When I asked the barmaid(about 15ish, ring through her lip, attitude etc)if they had any other real ale,I suddenly realised by her blank look that she didn't have the foggiest idea what I was talking about. In the end we settled for the 2 most expensive bottles of Newkie brown I've bought in a long time.Couldn't wait to get out, full of noisy drunken kids even at 8.30.If you're over 25 find somewhere else! greyhead - 1 Feb 2009 20:55
as a student it is a good place for cheap drink but also some of the worst also, cramped and dingey this is somewhere where you would expect to see dodgy dealings going on. favoured haunt of college students and other young people stargazerhill - 25 Mar 2008 12:58
This place is awful, you have to pay to get in after about half ten and it is full of 12 year olds who still want to hear Jump Around by House of Pain - in 2007! A money making machine which lost any soul it once had years and years ago... PeoplesPalace - 28 Dec 2007 12:16
I wouldn't say it's the worst pub in Derby, but then again you don't go here for the interior design. It's just a rock pub, plain and simple. The ale isn't the best though at times so you have to be careful what you drink. I tend to end up plumping for spirits or bottles in this place, but they tend to be on offer much more as well! mat_tyg - 14 Nov 2007 21:13
