user reviews of the Lodge, Shirley

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This one time "locals local" staggers from bad to worse.

Scores of regulars have deserted the place in recent years as they have given up hope of it returning to its former reliability for an unthreatening atmosphere, good beer, food, conversation and well managed events.

Recently under new management the new owners first innovation is to install a fairground style punch ball machine .....

You couldnt make it up !

Unfortunately I've had the misfortune of having ended up at this dive by default and it is not an experience I recommend.

For one the bouncers. Now, everyone hates bouncers, but they don't do themselves any favours. However, the bouncers at The Lodge are the worsed a I have ever seen. Infact they refused to even look at my mates I.D. These dummies don't even know their own job! As for closing time they started trouble on people trying to take drinks and forcing people out, evening though we hired the place for a private event!

The bar staff there are very slow and sloppy, as I remember the booze too was over priced and not up to scratch! The manager there treated me viley when I was waiting, as if I was doing her a favour!

The place seems to attract as undesriable a clientel as the staff. All the local scum and chavs seem to collect there making the place a rough and rowdy boozer.

In short the place has little to offer and I'd rather get a taxi into Shirley or elsewhere than suffer this place again... really don't have anything good to say :S
