Continuing our stroll along St Albans Road, we reached the Prince George, which now bills itself as a Smokehouse. Seemingly geared more towards food than drink, we were greeted by the small pub dog. Staff were fairly friendly. But, there was only one solitary real ale - Fuller's Swing Low. Although, Tring Side Pocket For A Toad was being pulled through. Ok, but nothing special.

Still the Prince George but changed hands again. A visit will have you thinking of Queens as well as princes!

Newly refurbed and very welcoming. 2 handpumps (only one dispensing on last visit). Wells Bombardier "Burning Gold". Also Moretti, Symonds cider and the usual fizzy things.

Food very good, way beyond normal for Watford. Had a burger which at £9 was good enough value. Child's meal was £6 for nice Mac' cheese.

Good to have a pub that's making an effort to welcome all-comers- very unusual in Watford.

New owners and refurbished inside. Still called the Prince George. Cellermanship far better than under the previous management.

Now known as the Prince George. Used to have a pretty dodgy rep' and no real beer.

Now they seem to be making an effort, with a varied menu of ales, kept a bit too cold in my opinion.

Friendly staff, pool table, rooms are named after previous incarnations of this building.

Finally got around to visiting, having wandered by many times. Had a pint of one of the two patriotically named ales - St George and the Dragon, from Wadworth. £3 a pint and not brilliantly kept.
Clips for Doombar and London Pride both facing the wrong way.
Large boozer with only six others in (including the barmaid) on a Wednesday night. And the signs to the garden still referred to the Sycamore.
Obviously trying, with plenty of offers on food, but wouldn't entice me back.
