| Very hard to fault this pub - friendly with excellent beer and good value food (the jumbo sausage baguette was great and only £4.00). Highly recommended. baxterfish - 24 May 2012 03:21 |
| Been here a couple times recently, beer is always good without fail and a wide selection, although slightly pricey. Never had the food but have been told although its good, its a bit on the spendy side for pub grub. The pub itself is in good condition, clean toilets, friendly barstaff and a car park. | Nice pub, its a bit of a distance for me. Popped in for a Friday lunchtime as the website said they had a Porter on, a rare drink in Hertfordshire... Well, it was worth the visit, its the sort of pub I love. Plenty of choice and a barman who was happy to offer an opinion on the drinks more then just the basics you get else where. The other half was a bit miffed as I has to have a few beers as the choice was so good, the food was fine, only a handful of baps/sandwiches which make sense as its not on a busy route so no point offering loads at lunchtime. It is the one pub I want to visit more often but find I cannot get there and back for a lunchtime which is a shame. If you like proper pubs I would recommend The Lordship Arms 100%. The only draw back was a sign on the door saying no kids, did not ask if this was correct or not but as its a small pub I can see why, pity it could not say no kids after 7pm so at least we can all visit for an early evening meal and help support a quality place. smokemeakipper - 23 Nov 2010 12:49 |
| Ok agree with most of bellow Nice Pub Clean and inviting. Beers as good as it gets never had better. But sorry the landlords a right misery guts! BDay - 4 May 2010 17:48 |
| Unusually for me I have to concur with everyone. This is an excellent pub for beer. Have never had even as much as indifferent pint here. On my last visit I had a pint of Mad Goose and a little way down the road was accosted by two mad geese along the lane. I will avoid any beers with rhino or grizzly bear connotations on any future visits. This is a pub that is also rermakably clean inside. Something pointed out to me by the other half that I never noticed. How do they keep a pub SO clean. A collection of telephones adorns the bar and the landlord knows about proper beer. Only downside is the relatively early finish to bus services to the village.. oh and the afternoon closing - though some may see that as retaining a quaint English custom.
