Really busy for a late Saturday afternoon in October. Because it was a mild day, the outside terrace was very popular.
Six ales to choose from - TT Landlord, Bass, Doombar included.
This was arguably the best pub in the immediate area that I tried (also went to Rempstone, Costock and Wymeswold).

Definitely agree with Deb... Blue Monkey Sanctuary, Sharpes Doom Bar, Timothy Taylor Landlord plus a couple more last time I was in (along with Aspalls Cider). Pub was packed with a good mix of people, nice friendly barmaid, roaring fire (Sunday lunch baps that looked great!). The garden is lovely both in summer & winter. Highly recommended.

Easily the best pub for miles around.Great beers (and a huge selection), great wines, excellent bar staff, lovely fire in winter and superb garden in summer. Forget the previous posting -this pub is dog friendly!

Nice cozy country pub. Not dog friendly though, so I finished sitting outside with me dawg which kind of put a dampener on my long-country-walk-followed-by-pint-in-cozy-pub idea!

A friendly traditional village pub with a couple of real ales and an imaginative menu.
