A pleasant pub with a reasonable selection of beer. Staff were friendly too. The interior was a little bland but comfortable.

Since this pub was taken over in feb it has changed loads inside and out, I used to drink here years ago and i will def be coming back its got a lovely atmosphere and the people are lovely and the real ales are brilliant def the best in the high street.

I used to drink more IPA than was good for me a few years back when Sue and Tony were there. My recent pint was not bad but the place does seem to have lost that eclectic mix and atmosphere. Maybe I'm just getting old. Still I bet it's better than the Mayflower...

Regrettably, this place is getting a reputation for changing it's licensee more often than my ex changed her attitude and recent experience means for the worse (true of my ex too!). Ideally sited at the far end of the High Street and a stone's throw (literally) of the mainline rail station, it should be a magnet for weary commuters in need of relief from the global turndown. Instead it is a dull place that looks to be on the verge of it's own financial crisis.

Pleasant enough pub next to the station with a bay window at the front looking down onto the street below. two handpumps, one of which was dispensing the relatively local Nelson's blood from the Maldon based Farmers Brewery.
