Very expensive very average beer, no atmosphere, and owen mattia has only ever submitted 2 reviews, both of this pub, and only 3 minutes apart!, I'd say drive up the hill to Milbury's instead of stopping here littlecon - 25 Jul 2011 13:16

Very expensive beer. The major problem was the Sunday "roast", at £11 one expects a certain qaulity, but the roast porkt consisted of wafer thin reheated slices of "pork" in a tasteless gravy. Very poor indeed and I would avoid this pub for food. julestrainspotter - 16 Oct 2010 20:56
Went in this pub after visiting Hinton Ampner House, as it's conveniently about 100 yards from the entrance to the house. Very quiet when we went in on a Wednesday afternoon, but the barmaid was polite enough. Had 4 hand pumps on serving a range of locally brewed Hinton beers, Hinton Crest, Hinton Sportsman, Hintons Olde, and I can't remember the fourth! I plumped for the Crest which went down well. More of a restaurant than a pub, with all the tables decked out for eating rather than quaffing, but there are a row of seats at the bar if you want to run the gauntlet of 'nicking' a locals' seat, and there is a large seating area outside at the back. Would like to come back here when a bit busier to sample a better atmosphere, but will definately come again. hampshirehog - 29 Oct 2009 01:07
