Large spacious pub in the middle of a busy traffic island. Frankly a nightmare to get to on foot. Beer OK with a good range of ales. Food (a sandwich) was very nice, well presented and reasonable value for money. Seating is comfortable and the size of the place means there is always somewhere to sit. On the downside very corporate and not geared up for the casual drinker. Staff serve beer and take orders and that's about it. Any interaction with the customer is clearly frowned upon. villagefamily - 6 Jul 2011 18:00
Although it is an Ember Inn, and some feel chain pubs lack distinction, it's generally friendly and the staff have always been helpful and know their stock. Spacious for sitting outside on a sunny day, although being effectively a huge traffic island isn't perfect, but you don't notice that as much as you'd think on the whole. Reliable standard. vinnie42 - 1 Jun 2010 11:37
Situated on a large roundabout this is a large busy food pub. The fare is what you expect from an ember inn, loads of steak ,curry night offers etc. If its busy you will be waiting at the bar and the table. Handy for that weekday meal when you are late back from work. Beer was good enough 2 or 3 ales always on, but you get the impression they want you in and out quick plus Some of the younger staff seem almost eager to ignore you and carry on talking to their colleagues novocastrian - 23 May 2010 18:49
Oh! Lord. Ember Inn, so pretty souless. A huge pub and eatery on a major roard island. Fake timber look and modern interior - plain walls in different colours. The clientele were mixed. I was forced outside by the fact that three footy fans (Liverpool, Arsenal and Man Utd - so all local then!) were oblivious to their shouts at the Sky Sports News TV debating over £40m for this, or that player. Lots of tot, sunning themselves, improved the view of the cars going around the island. The bar staff were fine. Usual taps, with London Pride, Banks's MILD and 6X on handpull. MILD was fine. Would only go for the beer and i can get the same stuff elsewhere, so i will. Archivist - 14 Jun 2009 13:04
Competent but doesn't inspire me, despite looking a bit more upmarket than the nearby Spoons. The beer is OK, but not good enough to detract from the fact that all Ember Inns look the same (as do the customers in each). mtaylor40 - 20 Jan 2009 22:37
