The Coach and Horses is a great British Public House (the kind that has made Albion famous), that serves fantastic food and drink - take note the overated and overblown Grey Goose down the road!

The staff are organised, friendly and knowledgeable about the food/drink they sell.

There's always good music on too!

Well done to the stafff at the Coach and Horses!

As Clapham High Street continues its slow decline, thank goodness for places like this!

I have been using this pub as my local for a couple of years now, ever since I moved to SW4, and it has never been as good as it is now. It is clear to see the new guys really care about the place and they have managed to make the changes the pub needed without poncifying it or rendering it some horrific soul-less 'wine bar'. The food is great, the beer is great, the sport is great and the service is great. I'm not sure what more you could ask for really?

As for the two people below - Nigel, should a pub have and supply schooners on the basis of a request for one perhaps once a year? And dogbear, if you can't afford to drink glasses of wine I hear Wetherspoons pubs do good cheap deals on booze, you should check one out and leave the Coach to those of us who enjoy it in there.

quite right dogbear, i'm normally a big fan of the coach and horses, but recently i went in with my mother (who likes a sherry) and asked for a schooner of harvey's bristol cream, only to be told that they no longer do schooners...and the reason? well, the bar person (i think that's the correct way to address them these days) said they were no longer doing schooners do to lack of demand and they were getting quite dusty on the shelf. well we left...good pint of spitfire though

I am the new owner of the Coach and Horses Clapham and I have to say I am utterly mystified about the below comment.

I remember having the conversation quite well with this person and for them to make up my response is very disappointing.

What I actually said was that we have put on a new wine list, far far greater in quality than the previous wine list in the pub, and as such we want to ensure a high turnover of wine to keep the product fresh and at it's best for drinking. I am sure anyone with half a brain can work out that proportionally speaking, we make the same profit from 6 125 ml glasses of wine than we do 3 250 ml glasses.

Not only is the wine of superb quality now, but it actually represents excellent value for money, as we have made a real effort to source fantastic bottles from all over the world.

I am unsure as to why 'Dogbear' felt the need to invent this conversation but nevertheless, should they wish to come to the pub again I will more than happily give them a glass on me, 125ml if they so desire.
