I have not been in this pub for more than ten years and am unlikely to return any time soon. However, an advert in the local paper informs readers that from 5th to 12th May the pub will be holding a beer festival. I attempted to view the pubs website mentioned in the newspaper advert but it doesn't seem to exist. wirraldrinker - 3 May 2012 14:04
I agree with previous post, the manageress does need a personality transplant. I went to the bar to ask for a small glass of water so my girlfriend could take a tablet and was told that I would have to buy a bottle! I explained to the manageress that we had been in the pub for a few hours and easily spent over £100 between us, yet still she wouldn't give me a drop of water out of the tap. I have never come across someone so stupid, pathetic and damn right rude in my entire life. I'm not sure how she has a job because her people skills are non existent, she surely has no idea how to run a pub. This used to be a nice pub, my parents still live round the corner and I visit them often but I will never go back there ever, it's the OBT or Shrew from now on, they can have my hard earned money instead, and i know for a fact that if i ask for a drop of water in one of those pubs then they'll be delighted to help their loyal customers. tom123 - 25 Nov 2010 17:53
my wife and i and our 18 year old daughter went to this pub for a meal yesterday 5th december. I went to the bar and ordered one pint and one soft drink for my wife and i.my wife went to order the meals only to be told we could not eat as my daughter had no ID nor did she look 21,why did they resuse us from eating, they had no signs informing us that people that did not look 21 could not eat.We returned our drinks to the bar and left. rlez - 6 Dec 2009 12:25
Manageress needs a personality transplant, staff do not really want to be there, any request for service broke into their conversation. The only redeeming feature is the potting shed( smoking area) is superb and it gets you out of the pub. wirraldoormouse - 27 Oct 2009 02:33
Not quite as bad as it at first appears. Bar staff seem to be in a world of there own but did, at least, ennunciate which made communication possible, allbeit wit a Liverpudlian accent. Guinness, which they seem to sell a reasonable quantity of, was reasonably well poured and at a good temperature. The red wine on offer was an above-average Merlot. Tables could do with being cleared a little more regularly and the bar top needs a more frequent wipe down. Sense of deja vu as I used to work there in 1969. Sadly, none of my co-workers still there! almost_an_old_git - 31 Jan 2008 17:06
