Visited recently as the place is under new ownership and getting good reviews.
Fairly busy but managed a table so we stopped for a couple of rounds. Beers from the Marstons portfolio and they were well kept and well presented.
The refurb has opened the pub up a bit more and it is looking like a boozer now. Might be a few too many nooks and crannies for the cleaner though.

Only two gripes; stools around the bar when it is busy and the TV being on too LOUD (There was little conversation in the top end of the pub and we certainly wouldn't have stayed if that were the only table, no matter how good the beer was)

Went in a couple of weeks ago for a quick lunchtime pint and despite a very loud and frankly common group who, thankfully, left I was impressed by the return to the traditional decor and the real ale on tap.

Will be going again today for a Sunday lunchtime drink.

Choice of Four decent beers in the Red Lion this evening, most impresive. well run with friendly service and fair prices. Currently the best pub in the town centre I'd say.

Called in last week following a recent refurbishment of both the inside and outside of the pub. Both are much improved on how they were. The trend for pine following the last refit took a lot of the atmosphere out of the pace and made it seem to empty and quiet. Its now darker inside but more intimate.

Was a bit dissapointed at the choice of beers, three ales on, which was good, but the pub now seems to be a Marstons pub and as such no longer seems to be selling local ales but only national ones. Still, was a very nice pint all the same.

Given the friendly service and the fact no other pub on the high street seems bothered about its customers I'll certainly be returning.

Seems to have changed hands since I was last there.

A nice range and choice of beers still but the TVs were all on showing afternoon daytime tv with the sound on loud, If I wanted to watch rubbish television I would stay at home and watch it. We went outside to drink in the end.
