havent been in for a couple of years but nice enough place for a couple b4 a meal at the excellent spice carrige indian restraunt next door. for better beer and atmosphere go 20 yards down the road to the mitre anonymous - 3 Jun 2007 18:29
Now I might be missing a point here. This used to be a nice pub with good atmosphere. However the owners have turned it into a dive, mis-match seating, poor decor, but increased prices making it one of the most expensive pubs in the area. The only real question is how they have managed to keep it open. Staff surly at best. inmrsh - 15 Apr 2007 19:52
This is the best local pub you will find. Theres no other pub in the area where you can go up to a complete stranger and have a talk about nothing without feeling as if your intruding. The locals all know each other and are friendly with their own unique interesting stories, most of which im sure are made up or exagerated on some level. James88 - 6 Sep 2006 15:32
Used to watch the footy in here on the odd Sunday. Can't be bothered now tho - I was having a cigar on one occasion, the miserable excuse of a bar-maid stomped up and snatched the ash-tray from the table. 'Nah smarkin' in this bit - carn cha read?', she said, pointing to a NS sign above my head, which measured approximately 6 x 8MM. When I opined that the sign was a little small, and her manner was unacceptable, she just stomped back to her sad existence. Oh - and the beer's about nine quid a pint. stwutter - 14 Aug 2006 12:35
Now this ia a traditonal local, you even get the eye from the bar staff if your dressed wrongly.(I last went in cowboy attire). They have a good offer on of £2.00 for a double and mixer which competes even with the likes of weatherspoons. The toilets are pretty poor and the vodka is cheap and dodgy. Its a lounge like atmosphere but perhaps inapproapriately filled with dance music from music channels broadcasted above your head. Overall 6/10 cos i hate 'the eye' http://barblog.blogdrive.com/ ---> UK BARBLOG altdesigns - 7 Sep 2005 13:30
