This pub can get very busy at lunch time and when you get your food it is normally cold, and also the manager can be quite rude, but okay for a quick drink after work. anonymous - 10 Nov 2006 12:27
Doesn't have a pool table anymore. anonymous - 30 Apr 2006 13:50
This pub has a lot going for it. Now ITV is just across the road - and the ITV news channel is closing down. That means lots of beautiful birds - i.e. newsreaders and researchers - drowning their sorrows and looking for a bit of entertainment. Know what I mean. Still worried about the food and bar staff that can't speak proper English like wot you can? conniwot - 9 Mar 2006 13:36
Didn't like it before the refurbishment. Not over-keen on it now, even though it's very different. The food's not bad. The beer's alright. The space taken up by the bar is about the same as that required for a Routemaster bus. It's a bit cluttered generally as well. Makes navigating the pub a little difficult. In particular 'cos it's so dark. gingerweasel - 26 Oct 2005 12:03
Another once great pub that shut for refurbishment...and that was the death knell. As the size of the windows increaced, the area behind the bar followed suit. 5 years ago, if you'd have told me i'd be fiddling with wax in the blue lion, i'd have known it was coming from my ears, and not from a wine bottle used as lighting for 'effect'. Like another well known establishment with wax, Madame tussauds, there is about as much life in this place. Full of people, but its just BORING. Bar staff are terrible and they don't have magners......cardinal sin. RebelBhoy - 23 Sep 2005 15:49
