Exceptional - high standards but unpretentious. Lots of cosy spaces; best AK I've had, and a good spot to start walks. Didn't try the food but sounds like its good. mtaylor40 - 29 Oct 2007 20:03
Fabulous fish and chips. Went there for the Prix Fixe menu (3 courses for a tenner) and was really impressed. Real ales well kept, especially the AK, which was possibly the best pint of the stuff I've had in ages. No competition for food locally, so they've got it made. Lovely sounding specials on the board, like rack of lamb, smoked haddock with spinach and free range egg and the like. Not as cheap as the boil-in-the-bag boozer down the road, but definitely a cut above. Go there for something different. pelley - 24 Aug 2006 23:46
With colleagues, I have held a regular meeting at the White Hart for a number of years & we are delighted with the improvements and progress that Nicola & Kris have made to the premises. The food remains an excellent feature of our gatherings & the beer is 100% reliable. A65Bill - 24 Jan 2006 11:56
This is a great pub! It has a typical public bar, full of local country folk. The lounge bar is used more for customers that are eating. They do fantastic home battered fish and chips. It's really expensive (£6 for cod or haddock and chips, £9 for plaice and chips) but the portions are huge and you can tell it's fresh. They do takeaways, but expect to wait 20 minutes for it to be cooked. They have a big specials board in the lounge, and at the weekend they have things like Monkfish wrapped in parma ham. The bar staff are relaxed and sometimes a bit slow, but that all adds to this pub's informal atmosphere. One bad thing was that we waited 45 minutes for our food one Saturday night, but we were a large party who hadn't booked, and the place was packed. But the food was hot and really good, so we'll let them off! anonymous - 1 Feb 2005 23:16
