user reviews of Old Halfway House, Horbury

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

For our christmas day dinner, 2008, we decided to eat out, as we have always eaten christmas dinner at home. We booked at Halfway House in Horbury as we had heard good things. We booked well in advance (by 3 month!) and put £50 deposit down. We originally booked at 1.30pm but 2 month later decided to book it for 3.00pm instead and the staff were fine with that. We arrived at 3 and the staff looked confused of why we were there. The manager came ovee and explained that we were booked in for 1.30 and the kitchen has closed. We were mortified as we did not get any christmas dinner on christmas day!The manager was no help at all, he kept on walking off dealing with his customers already sat down eating. He showed no sympathy and just gave our deposit back. We thought he might have been able just to offer us a light lunch or left overs as we were that hungry saving ourselves for a 3 course meal we already pre-ordered!!All of this results in extremely poor staff and bad organisation skills. We had to then diver around for an hour to try and find anywhere that could fit us in for food, however, everywhere was fully booked as expected. We had to settle for a takeaway. They ruined our christmas day. We will not be returning or recommending anyone to this pub.
