We stayed at the George and Dragon in the cosy bedrooms that they have on offer - lovely digs for a great pub - great food also (and if you stay you get an awesome fry up), has a great local feel to it. Beers are also good, regional ciders and ales on offer which makes it all the worth visiting. willsiob - 24 Sep 2010 14:47
Been a few times this year by myself and with family. Always well looked after. Locals friendly and happy to chat over a beer at bar. Staff really attentive and landlady really patient (especially with my kids) they can be a handful. Food first class and excellent value. Have recommended to family and friends who have since stayed over in the B&B rooms and all been really pleased with hospitality and service. GAHE - 19 Sep 2010 21:07
Comment of trevorb was right but that was under (shortlived) management. New management has made a great difference. We went on a Friday night and enjoyed good home cooked food (I had lasagne, my wife a beef casserole) and friendly, chatty bar staff. We were visitors to the area and were made very welcome. They stock a good organic bottled cider and several well kept beers. The 6x was especially good. The draft scrumpy was good too. We also went on Sunday night and were greeted like old friends. They don't serve food after 6 on a Sunday (although did go out of their way to find something delicious for us when we got there at 6.30). NewEalingBoy - 19 Apr 2010 20:25
Just awful. Nothing more to say, have to agree with everything said by DTMaster. Reminded me of a dirty, cheap greasy spoon cafe!!!!! Sorry trevorb - 7 Mar 2010 19:06
I went to the George and Dragon in Potterne a couple of sundays ago and had a lovely meal in comfortable, warm surroundings. You could tell all the food was homemade and also that all the staff wanted to make sure you had the best visit possible from pouring your pint the right way to making you feel welcome in general. With the number of country pubs dwindling, it was such a pleasure to find one that was so inviting. Loved the pool table and darts (not many pubs seem to have those these days either) and the log fire was a nice finishing touch. Thanks so much for such a lovely meal and look forward to seeing you soon! pubgoer67 - 14 Jan 2010 18:59
