What is happening? Are pubco's really that bad that they run out of beer? The fifth time in various suposedly decent pubs in the last year and a bit. OK so they make their money on food, but is that any excuse, particularly a place such as this that promotes real ale, to have none?

Went as part of the Dulwich festival. Not been there for years, certainly not when the Goose and Granite. So a gastro makeover, not a surprise, and not totally ruined. But poor service and, did I say already, no ale. Cask marque - my bottom.

Onto the former pub, now restaurant, known as the Herne. You will see a theme!

Very Very Very BAD!!!!

Went to The Plough today for a nice sunday lunch and a few drinks. As soon as we got there the place looked nice and had comfy seating area for food.

Went to the Bar to order drinks and food, service was very slow and non polite. Was told there was a 30 minute wait for food, in the end it ended up being an Hour, then the road was burnt, veg under cooked (SOLID), and the gravy was cold. then after we had ate the main we decided to have a desert, so we went to the bar and was told we were unable to order desert for another 30 mins as they have temp closed the kitchen of orders, so after 30 mins we asked again, then 45 mins then was told they wasnt going todo desert for the rest of the day,

I found this place to be a complete disaster and wouldnt go back again, Dulwich is a nice place and im sure there are so many places that are better than this.

DO NOT GO!!!!

I wish I had been afforded some courtesy by the staff! We visited yesterday, looking forward to a nice meal as the pub had been recommended to us. I ordered a pint of Addlestones which is my favourite and I always drink in other pubs. It didn't taste very nice, so my husband asked whether we could change it. The barmaid got irate, raised her voice and said noone else had complained and she could give us a 'free' half of something else. She was really rude!

As a new Mum, I discovered this pub courtesy of the mother and baby group which takes place there every friday. And Ive been back again and again since. Its a cracker. The staff are amongst the best Ive ever known a pub to have. Each and every one of them has a good sense of humour and a courteous manner. The beer and wine selection is also good. My only criticism would be the food. We were served very over cooked wedges, but when complained these were replaced quickly and without a fuss. My mates soup was also a bit runny. And when you advertise a ham sandwich you dont expect it to be over cooked ham off the bone...
Aside from that this is the best pub in the area at the moment. Specially if you have kids. Your made to feel really welcome rather than endured like most of the other pubs in the area.
