Time to add a new review for the total revamp of this pub. It has been beautified toa gorgeous level whilst still retaining charm.
The draught ales are good, although I'd always like to see some more choice.
The food is very good and service lovely.
More of a gastropub, but a different league to what was here before. What a great pub to have in the village.

Old and a bit tired. A locals' pub to offset the splendour (?) of Old Thorns nearby. Friendly staff. Nice ales, well-kept with a good selection. Great for beer. And I like beer.

I thought that i would try this pub, for the first time, in the sixteen years i have lived in the area. This was sat 20th. Oh dear. not sure what the other comment is all about. hate to think what it was like before it improved. i have never been in a more dismal pub ever. staff seemed friendly ! food was to say the least very poor. steak was okay sort of, the rest was microwaved, even the desert, which most of it was inedible and was left. not much change out of 50.00. sorry, but this will be the first and last time that i go there.

I have recently visited this pub for the first time in many years. It has improved beyond recognition, with the new landlord. The last one would not serve a non-regular, if he could help it.
Three beers on handpump, all from the Greene King group.
