please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

i had the good fotrune to find this little oasis yesterday whilst driving out to Selby. first impressions were that it was just another pub but when we got in it, there was a coal fire burning and a huge friendly greeting from the bar staff which was encouraging, so we decided to try the food.
There was a very large and varied selection of specials on a black board ranging from steak pie to rack of ribs accompanied by quite an extensive menu. i ordered the mediteranean soup with meat balls as a starter and my wife ordered the garlic mushrooms, both of which would have been more than adequate as a light lunch, and glad to say freshly prepared. This was followed by a mixed grill for myself and a rib eye steak for my wife my eyes nearly popped out of my head when i saw the size of the plate that the mixed grill came out on it was huge and it was'nt bacon chops and burgers filling it either, all the selection of meats were prime cuts sourced from a local butchers. the same dilligence had been paid to my wifes Ribeye steak which came out piping hot and cooked to perfection all for less than 30.00.
Needless to say we didn't look at the sweet menu as niether of us could have eaten another thing but judging the quality of what we did have i doubt it would have been anything less than excellent. the landlord and landlady (Lizzie and Jason) certainly won't let you leave feeling hungry or disapointed.
Although dining here was not our original intention it was worth the 25 mile drive and is a journey i would not mind repeating regularly!
