Been here a few times since it re-opened and it looks very smart, although a bit bright on the lighting side. It could make it a little more intimate and warm by some more subtle lighting. Easten in the restaurant twice and once in the bar area. Food standard is very good, but it is a bit nouvelle cuisine - hungry when you've finished? pjames37 - 8 Jan 2012 18:01
What a difference two years makes!!!! Really friendly staff and a decent atmosphere. Haven't eaten there yet, but beer's good. jgreg - 8 Jan 2011 18:40
It's just been reopened and has two great bars, one pretty relaxed the other pretty classy, but both selling some great beers. Oh, and the food is really wonderful! I'll post a longer review when I get back from South Germany. Mikecanoe - 10 Dec 2010 09:32
This pub is under new ownership and has recently been refurbished beautifully. The staff are friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. I have eaten in both the lounge bar and restaurant and had superb meals which were served quickly and efficiently by friendly waitresses. The bars are well stocked and good local ales are served by smiling helpful bar staff. I can happily recommend this venue to anybody looking for an enjoyable evening or a short break in one of the lovely newly furnished bedrooms. penelope1 - 9 Dec 2010 11:42
Newly restored to it's former glory, the Lion opened this weekend. Lovely furnishings, wonderful menu, great beer. And it WON"T FLOOD ANYMORE thanks to new river defences. Good Luck, Lion! jayartibee - 29 Oct 2010 21:01
