| A very big pub, and could feel a bit souless if empty... Generally I have to agree with other comments though; Good food and friendly staff. Not sure St.Austell ales are the best, but HSD is a decent strong ale and Proper job is okay too... Barrow_Beer_Hunter - 5 May 2012 16:58 |
| best pub in the St Austell area, easily! cmofish - 9 Sep 2011 14:16 |
| I have to agree with nuckster1511. This is the most welcoming pub in Charlestown by a country mile. As a local I don't mind waiting to be served because we have to recognise that food and tourists help to keep pubs like this going. The food is good, honest and well priced. The Beer is kept superbly and St Austell Ales are up there with the best in the country. The staff on the whole are welcoming and in the pub area the atmosphere is excellent. This is a pub where customers come first, we even recevied a free drink on Christamas Day, which when compared to the other pub near the harbour (see my other review) was appreciated by one and all. There is also an excellent beer garden for the warmer days. Everybody welcome, my only gripe is closing time 11pm! I'd like another couple of hours at the weekend to appreciate the place even more!
