Friendly traditional pub which supports community and charity events. Beer is good - Vale Black Swan and Young's Bitter are permanent and there's a guest ale plus a couple of traditional ciders. Rather out of the way but well worth a visit. What I'd call a proper pub, and none the worse for that.

Well 'imnodope' i agree that the staff were very friendly and helpful but apart from that i don't have a clue what you're on about.

I visited last Sunday with my family and we all agreed that it was a great little pub. The food was very enjoyable. Within the family we tried a range of dishes on the menu... The roasts were fantastic - meat was cooked exactly the way i like it, Burgers were handmade and delicious, Nutroast was the best the family member had had in a while. Would just like to add that all the meals had large portions sizes which makes them great value for money.

I would definitely recommend this pub to everyone, especially people with children as there is a large play area for them to play in. It's well worth a visit

OK, there was a great welcome by the 2 girls working the bar.

The 2 real ales on, were very well kept, so all ok there.

BUT the food was something else, it was not at all good.
I had a Sunday roast of pork and it was awful. There was no taste in the food and it seemed to have been cooked by a complete novice.
One of my family had chilli and chips and that was tasteless also. The burgers were another tastelees item.

The one thing this pub needs is a proper cook/chef, or even a part time mum, to make the food presentable and tasteful.

We came here around a year ago, and thought we would give it another chance, but nothing has changed.

A saving grace is that there is a reasonable fenced garden for kids to play, which, come to think of it, is why we met the family and grandkids there in the first place.

Oh well, it will be the Duke of Edinburgh, a few miles away next time, when food is required.

Went here again with friends for Sunday lunch. Horrified to find that the same dodgy nut roast was the vegi option as it was last year. That was accompanied by almost solid vegi gravy . . . . Will have a liquid lunch next time.

Fab beer, rubbish food if you don't eat meat, but my partner says the traditional sunday lunch was fine.

Toilets have been refurbished and were very nice!!
