I had a very pleasant lunch here with my family. Very good food, good beer and an interesting menu. The landlord and staff were smiling and friendly and the beer range and quality was good. A good experience - highly recommended.

I read that this pub had been taken over by new management and decided to give it another go. I must admit now it is well worth a visit. Their lunch menu is very good, most dishes are under £11. Food was excellent and service very good. Hurray for the change in management!

This pub has been taken over by new people, who are very friendly and welcoming. The food I had was typical pub-type food (steak and mushroom suet pie) which was quite good, well presented and very reasonably priced (under £11).

Good place for a meal, family friendly, dark and old-fashioned, but quality of food is good. Personally I like the maitre d' thing. Only downside is that they use a lot of young temporary staff who try hard but go off to uni before they settle in, then they have to get a new lot. Toilets aren't great but they have improved.

I have been to this pub twice and was impressed both times. The choice of ales is excellent and then wine list is good - nice to see a list that has good, hearty wines as well as the obligatory expensive efforts. The menu is varied and caters for all tastes. The whole ambience is relaxed but verging on elegant dining (maitre d'?). All in all, a good night out.
