| I use to go to this pub about 15 years ago when it was run by Ron, and always had a good time there. During the summer I decided to take my girlfriend and parents one hot Sunday as it's a great pub in the summer. The place had changed a lot with a conservatory and larger bar area. Straightaway I noticed the service was pretty poor. There seemed to be enough staff, but there were also a lot of people waiting, most of them not seeming to care who was first and waving their money trying to get served before everyone else. I waited patiently but after 5 mins grew very annoyed. Mainly because the staff didn't seem to care, or take into consideration who might have been next (my biggest pet-hate of bar staff these days). I finally got served by the manageress who obviously realised how long I had been waiting and how unhappy I was. But even then it took quite a while to get my drinks and order food. We sat out the front which had a few too many wasps flying around (a sign that the place isn't as clean as it should be). We ended up waiting about 45 mins for basic pub food to be delivered. The food was quite nice, but the whole experience was let down by our only visit to the bar. It's a shame because it used to be a decent boozer, but now seems to have got a bit above itself, attracting too many people and not knowing how to cater for them all. Ricobran - 15 Dec 2011 13:15 |
| This is a nice pub in Nazeing with lovely garden area, outside conservatory. Food was good and when I last when they had entertainment - jazz singer, which was nice. They also have a good childrens play area. I have eaten here many times over last 6 months, about 8 times and would recommend it. caroil - 24 Sep 2010 22:11 |
| Nice enough country pub with friendly staff. Beer seemed a little tired but the food was OK. This was mid-week lunchtime, we were the only ones eating and there were a couple of locals at the bar, consequently the atmosphere was a little flat. BobOs - 23 Aug 2008 11:27 |
| I visited the Sun Inn in Nazeing this week. Food was quite frankly awful. We had a sunday lunch, we were hungry afterwards as it was scarcely enough to fill a 6 year old up. The roast potatoes consisted of 3 small ones; the vegetables (cauliflower and swede) were frozen veg and semi hard. In fact everything was frozen and not fresh - even the meat seemed the pre-packaged variety. My son received his meal, although he had ordered a starter. This sat on the table getting cold waiting for the starter to arrive. I cant comment on other meal options but the Sunday roast was vastly over-priced and awful.
