I suppose initial reactions and opinions change as to what sort of day you've had, expectations and the service/experience you receive. I have to say I enjoyed the Logan Rock. We visited on a Monday late afternoon, after a beautiful day at the Jubilee pool in Penzance, followed by a few hours on the beach @ Porthgwarra. The fact it was open and serves food all day was a good starter. Beer was excellent; Proper job, HSD, Tribute and its namesake Logan Rock IPA, along with Rattler cider and various lagers. Pub is quite snug inside, with a cricket theme. We sat on the little patio at the front which was well kept. Food was excellent, including a large gluten free choice for my wife who is a coeliac. I didn't find food or drink any more expensive than most other pubs in the area. Based on this I would definitely recommend...

Like the reviewer below, I wasn't sure about this place either. Overpriced for a start, both for beer and food. The beer wasn't in particularly good nick, with the Dartmoor Best, Tribute and HSD all a bit past it. The Proper Job was pretty good though - although it was expensive to get to find this out!

Having just read previous reviews my thoughts an the Logan Rock are somewhat mixed. As a St Austell House, you know what to expect. As a boozer in the sticks you also know a lack of choice will mean a higher price offering. Overall the pub has a certain charm, but to me it doesn't feel right. At 5.30pm on a Thursday afternoon in September the barman and two locals are engaged in conversation. Barman serves me as if I had intruded, with barely a word exchanged. St Austell Expensive Dartmoor Best at £3.30. He went back to his locals. I went outside to get a bit ot peace. The remains of an earlier diner's meal were stacked on a picnic table.and that is where they stayed. No clearup, no check. So all in all just didn't feel right. 30 minutes later finished my beer and left. Table still uncleared, no one in the bar to receive my empty glass. Maybe short staffed or run on the bare minimum. A potential good pub going to waste by falling well short of customer expectations.

Visited twice at lunchtime whilst on a recent walking holiday. Enjoyed beer, food and service was good. Prices highish, but this seems common in this part of Cornwall

Pretty expensive, seemed pretty unfriendly - though the bar service was at least efficient. Most of the bar, minutes after opening time, was occupied by a few locals holding forth expansively to each other.
