| We went to this pub yesterday evening. Having read the reviews I was a bit concerned that it was going to be an overpriced disappointment. I should not have worried. The staff were charming, the food first rate and the prices very reasonable. My only comment is that the portions were too generous. | Good looking pub in nice location,Then it's all down hill,The plethora of wall mountings and beams were coated in dust and cobwebs,quite a contrast from ground level.The wine very nice ,the 3 courses that followed were an overpriced disgrace.. My breaded white bait was dark brown and, jumped of the plate when attempting to put the fork in,It's salad was something i'd just purchased from the supermarket exactly the same and no dressing. The Greyhound Paella was a yellow gritty stodge adorned with 3 prawns just defrosted and laid a top, 4 see through slices of Chorizo,and 8 small and varying sized chicken pieces..oh yes some peppers and onions. Summer fruit pudding and custard,it was warm on the outside and icy cold on the inside,was this another microwave job.... I told the waitress about the paella but, nothing came of it,on paying the begrudged bill the landlady i assume asked about the pudding i told her and she commented that it had just come out of the fridge, Did you pour your custard on it,no i did not and i'v left it for you to see. Results.. this is very below average cooking with sky high prices,nothing was obviousley tasted and checked before leaving the kitchen, perhaps the cook should be checked and leave..Dire experience for the price james55westhead - 1 Jun 2009 07:06 |
| This pub seems to concentrate more on the food side of things than the drinking side. However the bar is great, with good beers and a nice atmosphere, and the restaurant is too stuufy and overprices. In other words, o.k. for a drink, not so good for a meal. Dr_Pangloss - 18 Jan 2009 17:32 |
